Coordinator Of Isoko Peoples Vanguard Alleges Threat To Life

Coordinator of  Isoko Peoples Vanguard, Comrade Allen Okioma has alleged threat to his life and lives of members of his household by unknown men.

Speaking to journalists on the matter in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area on Monday July 2nd, 2018, Comrade Okioma who is also a member of staff of Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), explained that Isoko People’s Vanguard is a pressure group formed against bad governance and misappropriation of public funds by public officers and that the group has been calling on the federal government to put a stop to the menace of herdsmen in the Middle belt, Port Harcourt, Ndokwa, Abraka and other areas of the country. “Consequently, our (members of the group) lives are being threatened by unknown persons”

He told the press that one fateful day, he was tailed by some unknown persons who he said was riding in a Toyota Corolla car with covered vehicle plate numbers, prompting him to run to the military post on Effurun/Sapele Road, Effurun area for safety ” Thereafter, I started telling every body about my ordeal including my wife”

An apprehensive Comrade Okioma explained further that the press briefing was necessitated by the fear that the unknown men are desperately after his life and lives of members of his household as he alleged that an unsuccessful attempt of attack on his wife and kids was made by the unknown men when they (his family) were returning from school and that just recently his wife and kids narrowly escaped from the hands of  suspected assailants who he said were riding on  a commercial tricycle, popular called keke. He said that during the encounter, the hired hoodlums disclosed that they are herdsmen from the Northern part of the country, saying that his wife was told to warn him to shut his mouth and that if he refuses to keep his mouth shut, they will send him and members of his household to the great beyond.

The Igbide born activist also told newsmen that he has reported the threat by the unknown men to the police. He however called on the Isoko Nation, the federal and state governments as well as the general public to be aware of the threat to his life and lives of members of his household by unknown men as he said that himself and his family are into hiding at as the time of the press briefing for fear of being attacked by the unknown persons.
