
January 15, 2023, marks another year of remembering the sacrifices made by the officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces to ensure the unity, peace, and progress of the country.
To mark the occasion, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, joined the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, and other Service Chiefs to lay wreaths at the National Arcade in Abuja.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking dignitaries such as the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, the Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, members of the Federal Executive Council, the Diplomatic Corps, and members of the Force Management Team.
The Inspector-General of Police commiserated with the families and loved ones of officers and men of the armed forces, the Police Force, and other paramilitary agencies who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
He also urged every citizen to come together and ensure that their sacrifices are not in vain by promoting peace and unity, peaceful coexistence, and general safety for all in Nigeria.
“As we remember the sacrifices of the Armed Forces, let us also remember the importance of peace and unity in our nation. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day serves as a reminder for us to strive for a peaceful and harmonious society, and we must all play our part in making this a reality.
“In conclusion, the Armed Forces Remembrance Day is a day of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude to the sacrifices made by the Armed Forces, and it serves as an important reminder for us to continue to promote peace and unity in our nation.
“Let us remember the sacrifices of the Armed Forces and work towards a peaceful and harmonious society,” the Nigerian Police Chief further stated.
