PORT HARCOURT, Rivers โ€” In a recent turn of events in Rivers State, Nigeria, political tensions have escalated as the Concerned Rivers People (CRP) issued a scathing rebuke aimed at Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other prominent figures in the state.

Rivers State politics: CRP warns President Tinubu (R) against trusting Governor Fubara (L) and his failed pro-Atiku allies. Thursday, March 28, 2024.

The CRP, through its coordinator, Davidson Daniel, launched a verbal assault against Fubara, Abiye Sekibo, Austin Opara, and other individuals aligned with Atiku Abubakar, accusing them of betrayal and deceit.

At the heart of the matter is the CRP’s condemnation of Fubara’s perceived disloyalty to former Governor Nyesom Wike, who is credited with elevating Fubara from obscurity to political prominence.

The CRP contended that Fubara’s apparent betrayal of Wike raises questions about his trustworthiness and integrity, suggesting that if Fubara could betray his benefactor, then no one is immune from his duplicity.

Furthermore, the CRP lashed out at other political figures aligned with Atiku Abubakar, labeling them as “birds of a feather” characterized by deceit and treachery.

The CRP accused these figures, including Abiye Sekibo, Uche Secondus, Austin Opara, Celestine Omehia, and Lee Maeba, of attempting to deceive the public by pledging support for President Bola Tinubu while maintaining allegiance to Atiku Abubakar.

However, the CRP’s statement carried a warning to President Tinubu, which cautioned him against placing trust in individuals with a history of political opportunism and moral ambiguity.

The CRP asserted that President Tinubu, known for his political acumen and astuteness, would not be swayed by the empty promises of individuals motivated solely by self-interest.

In essence, the statement by the CRP brings the deep-seated political divisions and rivalries within Rivers State to the fore, with accusations of betrayal and opportunism flying from both sides.

As the state braces for future political battles, the actions and allegiances of key figures will continue to shape the political landscape, leaving no room for trust among erstwhile allies turned adversaries.
