MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have foiled multiple coordinated infiltration attempts by ISWAP terrorists across parts of Borno State in the early hours of Thursday, 10 July 2026.
The attacks, which occurred between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., targeted Muna Garage, Shuwari Village and the Ajilari Cross axis in what appeared to be an attempt to penetrate the Maiduguri metropolis. The military said its early warning systems detected the movement in time, enabling troops to engage the attackers from several directions and halt the advance.
Additional infiltration attempts were also repelled at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai.
During the pursuit of fleeing terrorists at Miringa, an MRAP vehicle triggered an improvised explosive device, but no casualties were recorded among the troops. The military said the situation remains stable.
In a statement issued in Maiduguri, Acting Military Information Officer Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the terrorists were “forced to abandon their mission and retreat in confusion across all axes.”
He added that troops were still conducting clearance and exploitation operations to chase the fleeing terrorists, strengthen control of the affected areas and guard against further attacks.
Operation HADIN KAI said it remains committed to “sustaining aggressive offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure the protection of lives and property across the North East.”
Residents were urged to stay alert and continue providing “timely and credible information” to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
