In a decisive joint operation, the 82 Division Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps successfully cleared multiple camps belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), spanning Umulolo – Umukele – Amousu and Agbobu in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.

ESN Dismantled: Troops Overcome IEDs, Unearth Disturbing Activities

According to a statement by the Nigerian Army headquarters, the combined forces stormed and obliterated hideouts used by the groups, when they encountered Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) along the way. It was during this process that the troops unearthed signs of terrorist activities, occultic practices, and acts of cannibalism. The troops also demolished the IED manufacturing facility of the terrorists. During the search, rank badges belonging to two kidnapped policemen along Enugu-Port Harcourt road were recovered, along with items such as Biafran currencies, counterfeit US Dollar bills, Biafran Liberation Army T-shirts, and other insignia. Military kit bags, IED detonation cables, axes, and two suspects were apprehended. Burnt corpses of kidnapped policemen were also discovered for proper burial.

Kidnapping Thwarted: Owerri Night Patrol Foils ESN’s Attempt

In Owerri Metropolis, vigilant troops on night patrol intercepted and thwarted a kidnapping attempt by suspected IPOB/ESN terrorists. A gun duel ensued, forcing the criminals to abandon their victim. The troops confiscated one AK-47 rifle with a magazine, a G-3 rifle with mounted magazines, and the vehicle used by the terrorists.

Community Engagement: GOC Visits Isiuzo-Amufu, Enugu State

Addressing the imperative of harmonious civil-military relations, Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army, visited Isiuzo-Amufu community in Enugu State. During the visit, he urged cooperation from the community to eradicate insecurity, promising to tackle herders-farmers clashes and youth restiveness. The GOC emphasized the need for collaborative efforts with other security agencies for enhanced regional security.

Synergy for Security: GOC Meets Security Agencies in Enugu Local Government

Major General Dada engaged with various security agencies in Enugu Local Government, urging them to sustain collaborative efforts and information sharing for improved security. He expressed appreciation for their cooperation and called on the South East community to provide timely information through the Emergency Line 193.
