Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minster Nyesom Wike has issued his sternest warning yet to kidnappers and their informants. In a decisive address to stakeholders of the Area Councils during the final leg of his security town hall meetings, the Minister urged the perpetrators and enablers of kidnappings to repent or face the consequences at the hands of security agents in the FCT.

The security town hall meeting, which held at the Kuje Area Council town hall in Kuje town, served as a platform for Minister Wike to reassure residents of his determination to combat the rising menace of kidnapping and criminal activities in the FCT. He called on FCT residents to actively support security agencies by providing crucial information that could lead to the arrest of criminals.

Wike affirmed the resolve and commitment of his administration to tackle insecurity head-on, and revealed that he had directed the council chairman to profile and establish vigilante groups in the areas to enhance local security efforts.

Addressing the criminals and their informants directly, Wike stated, “These bandits and criminals, their time is up. If you are an informant, you will die the same way those people you are informing will die. You have the opportunity to repent today or else you are gone. Nobody will pity you.”

Highlighting recent actions by security agencies, Wike urged residents not to be afraid and emphasized the importance of collaboration between the community and security forces. “Let me assure you that no amount of blackmail will stop us from carrying out our assignment,” he declared.

Expressing shock at the state of roads in the Kuje Area Council, Wike pledged to revisit the council’s file and ensure the construction of better roads for the community. “Today, we will go back and take those projects and complete them for you. It is not that we are doing you any good, you are entitled to it. We are not doing anything extraordinary. It is our job, and we will be faithful to it,” he assured.

The Gomo of Kuje, Alhaji Haruna Jibrin, also seized the opportunity to appeal to the minister for the establishment of either an Army or Mobile Police barracks in Kuje village, a hotspot for kidnappers. He pledged the support of traditional rulers and the people of Kuje Area Council in the collective fight against insecurity.

As Minister Wike takes decisive steps to fortify security measures and address long-standing issues, the residents of the FCT anticipate positive changes and a safer environment under the administration’s vigilant watch.
