A stakeholders meeting of the Bayelsa State APC called to deliberate on the forthcoming Governorship primaries scheduled for 29th of August 2019 has ended in a stalemate today with no decision reached.
Some of those who attended the meeting and staged a walk-out were two former Governors of Bayelsa state, His Excellency, Chief Nestor Binabo and Chief Timipre Sylva, a Chieftain and Governorship aspirant of the Party, Prince (Engr.) Preye Aganaba and Ex-minister, Heineken Lokpobiri.
The youngest of them, Preye Aganaba, a top contender for the office of Governor of Bayelsa State in a response to the deadlock maintained that whether it was Direct, Indirect or Consensus mode for the forthcoming primaries, he remains the preferred choice of the APC and the generality of Bayelsans.
If not resolved, Bayelsa APC may likely repeat the episode of the Rivers State Chapter of the Party, in which no candidate was fielded. As it stands now there’s no hope in sight of a speedy resolution of the crisis as all aspirants differ on the way forward.
