Governor’s Vision for Education:
The statement insists that Governor Fubara’s swift reconstitution of the Governing Councils is aligned with his vision for elevating the standards of education in Rivers State. And that the carefully selected individuals, which includes retired Supreme Court Justice Mary Odili, the powerful wife of Dr. Peter Odili, one of his predecessors, bring diverse expertise and experience to these key positions, aimed at propelling the universities to greater heights.
Conclusion:
The Fubara administration, no doubt, believes that the reconstitution of the Governing Councils reflects the government’s dedication to ensuring robust academic governance, fostering excellence, and charting a course for the continued growth and development of the two prime state-owned educational institutions: Rivers State University and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education.
However, an inside source, that prefers to remain anonymous, has alleged that Justice Mary Odili has been scheming for this River State University Governing Council Chairmanship appointment so that she can be in a position to orchestrate the premature death of the nascent but fledging medical school in the institution, and pave way for her husbandโs struggling Pamo Medical University to thrive, with exclusive patronage from the Governor Fubara administration. Consequent upon this, her appointment may amounts to a conflict of interest, if it stands.
