She holds degrees from several prestigious institutions, including the University of Ibadan, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, University of Granada, Central University of Nicaragua, Oslo Metropolitan University, Universidad Catolica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM), and University of Chalco-Mexico.

Prof Opara’s career began in 1997 as a Science Teacher (Biology) at the College of the Immaculate Conception (CIC), Enugu, under the National Youth Service Corps. She later worked as a Program Officer at the Nigerian Gender Action Network and as a Research Fellow at the Afro-Euro Centre for Development Studies in Accra, Ghana. Over the past 25 years, she has held various teaching, research, and consulting positions across Africa, America, Europe, and Asia.
