MAIDUGURI, Borno — In a decisive move against terrorism, Nigerian Army troops, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces, executed successful operations in Borno and Katsina states, neutralizing terrorists and recovering arms, ammunition, and rustled cattle.
Borno State Operation:
On Wednesday, March 26, 2024, troops conducted a clearance operation in the Gori general area of Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno State, targeting Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclaves. In a fierce firefight, the troops overwhelmed and neutralized one terrorist, rescued several rustled cattle, and seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the insurgents.
The recovered items included:
- 2 AK-47 rifles
- 38 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition
- AK-47 magazines
- One Improvised Explosive Device (IED)
- One motorcycle
The operation demonstrated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorist threats and securing communities in the North East region.
Katsina State Operation:
In a separate offensive, troops engaged terrorist camps in the Garin Rinji general area of Batsari Local Government Area in Katsina State. During the intense gun battle, two terrorists were neutralized, and multiple hideouts were destroyed. Additionally, the troops recovered two motorcycles and 25 rustled livestock, dealing a significant blow to the terrorist network operating in the region.
