Court Case Brings Alleged Pharmaceutical Procurement Scam Against Serial Fraudster

Christopher Nduka, arraigned by EFCC in Kano for Fraud. Friday, February 9, 2024

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dragged serial fraudster Christopher Nduka before Federal High Court in Kano Judge Farook Lawal Adamu in a noteworthy legal development. Nduka is accused with three counts, including receiving money under false pretences and writing a fake cheque for N2.8 million.

According to the first count, Christopher Nduka allegedly stole N2,850,000 from Tochukwu Obinna Chioke in Kano in September 2022 while posing as a buyer of pharmaceuticals. According to the charge, Nduka committed a fraudulent act with knowledge, in violation of Section 1(1)(b) and subject to punishment under Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.Act.

The cheque was presented, but it was returned unpaid because there was not enough money. According to Dishonoured Cheques (Offences) Act Section 1(1)(b), this conduct is considered unlawful.

Justice Lawal granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N1,000,000 and required one surety with a landed property within the jurisdiction of the court. The trial is scheduled to commence on March 27, 2024.

Christopher Nduka, already convicted twice for similar offenses, faces a fresh conviction following allegations that he diverted N2,850,000 meant for pharmaceutical products into personal use. Compounding his legal woes, Nduka issued two cheques, both bouncing due to insufficient funds in his account.

The EFCC is committed to fighting financial crimes and holding serial fraudsters accountable, as seen by its unwavering pursuit of justice. The length of Nduka’s alleged fraudulent operations will be revealed by the court processes, which will heighten public awareness of financial frauds as he awaits trial.
