In a historic event, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, DSSRS, FNIQS, has ascended to the revered position of Chief and Head of the Ancient Chief Daigbani (Fred) George Amachree Group of Houses in Buguma, Kalabari Kingdom, ending a 64-year vacancy.

The prestigious Chieftaincy Presentation and Installation Ceremony unfolded over two days, commencing on Friday, 2nd February and concluding on Saturday, 3rd February, in Buguma, Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The newly installed Chief Daigbani (Fred) George Amachree II expressed gratitude to his people for deeming him worthy of this historic role. Dr. George-Kelly pledged to lead with the fear of God and unwavering respect for all members of the community.

Among the distinguished guests at the ceremony was the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Wike, CON, GSSRS. Minister Wike lauded Dr. George-Kelly’s leadership qualities and expressed confidence in his capacity to discharge his duties effectively.

During his remarks, Minister Wike emphasized the significant task entrusted to Dr. George-Kelly, urging him to unite the community and safeguard its rich culture and traditions.

“You have been given the task to protect the values and culture of your people. This is a very big assignment, but I know you are equal to the task. Please use your position for the interest of your people, use it to unite them, use it to bring development to your land,” Minister Wike added.

The ceremony marked a momentous occasion not only for Dr. George-Kelly but also for the Kalabari Kingdom, as they witness the resurgence of leadership in the Chief Daigbani (Fred) George Amachree Group of Houses after more than six decades. The newly enthroned chief carries the responsibility of preserving the legacy and fostering unity and development in the community.
