President Muhammadu Buhari has declared June 12 as another Democracy Day. This new development brings to two the number of democracy days in Nigeria, having celebrated one two weeks earlier.

Mr President who made the declaration today and communicated same through his social media accounts said he did so after due consultation.

He also announced that the Federal Government has “decided to award posthumously the highest Honour in the land, GCFR, on late Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the cancelled June 12, 1993 elections”.
