NEW YORK, NY — The star-studded roster for the much awaited 2024 Met Gala was revealed by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Vogue Magazine, setting up a frenzy in the fashion world. Alongside the esteemed Anna Wintour, celebrities Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Zendaya will serve as co-chairs, ensuring an evening filled with glitz, creativity, and stunning fashion.
On May 6, this year’s Met Gala is slated to feature the theme “The Garden of Time.” The Met’s grand staircase is frequented by the fashion elite, and their interpretation of the mysterious dress code is left open to the imaginations of the celebrities who grace the stage. This topic is in line with the springtime Costume Institute exhibition at the Met, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Curator Andrew Bolton aims to breathe new life into the institute’s extensive collection, selecting around 250 garments for display.
Bolton, who is renowned for putting together the Met’s popular fashion shows, intends to structure the exhibition around the concepts of land, sea, and sky. The Costume Institute’s yearly budget has historically been heavily influenced by the gala, which has raised about $223.5 million to date.
TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew and Jonathan Anderson, creative director of Loewe, are honorary chairmen for the gala. Loewe is the event sponsor and TikTok provides extra support. The display will be open from May 10, 2024, to September 2, 2024.
A-list celebrities attend the Met Gala, which is well-known for its opulent red carpet and embrace the theme with custom attire. Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Billy Porter, and Rihanna are among the previous attendees. Zendaya, who is attending the Met Gala for the fifth time, and veteran attendees Jennifer Lopez—who is making her 14th appearance—as well as newcomer Chris Hemsworth will be joining Bad Bunny, who is attending for the third year in a row.
