Officers and Soldiers Heard from the Chief of Military Intelligence at 82 Division Headquarters
The Nigerian Army held a Security Sensitization Lecture at the Headquarters 82 Division, Enugu, as a proactive measure to handle new security threats. Maj. Gen. Thompson Bobby Ugiagbe, Chief of Military Intelligence (Army), gave a presentation with the intention of educating commanders and soldiers about current security risks and countermeasures.
Strategic Brainstorming for Enhanced Security:
The General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Hassan Taiwo Dada, emphasised the value of regular brainstorming sessions to exchange updates on security concerns and countermeasures. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s dedication to personnel training, highlighting the fact that the Division’s achievements were a result of its well-trained and equipped workforce.
Alertness and Preventive Action:
General Dada urged soldiers to remain watchful in their spheres of influence and emphasised the need of reacting quickly to security threats in order to proactively stop breaches. He commended Major General Bobby Ugiagbe for dedicating time to enlighten the troops.
Addressing National Security:
During the lecture, Maj. Gen. Bobby Ugiagbe stated that the sensitization became expedient because of the recent international and national developments in security threats, and underscored the critical importance of loyalty, discipline, and ensuring security across personnel, material, and information domains to safeguard national security.
Discipline and Professionalism:
Maj. Gen. Ugiagbe called attention to the Nigerian Army’s sacred duty and exhorted officers and soldiers to uphold a high standard of professionalism and discipline in their day-to-day activities. In order to avoid infractions of the Armed Forces Policy on Abuse of Social Media, he underlined the importance of rigorous adherence to rules, particularly when using social media.
Promoting Security Awareness:
The Security Sensitisation Lecture serves as a platform for the Nigerian Army to reinforce security awareness among its personnel, aligning with international best practices. The focus on emerging threats ensures that troops are well-equipped to handle contemporary security challenges effectively.
