Nigeria’s power sector achieves a groundbreaking milestone with a record generation peak of 5,713.60MW in March 2025, signalling transformative progress in the nation’s electricity landscape.
LAGOS, Nigeria — In a sensational development that promises to redefine Nigeria’s energy landscape, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a new record power generation peak of 5,713.60MW.
This landmark achievement, recorded on Tuesday, 2 March 2025 at 21:30 hours, underscores the relentless drive to enhance power delivery and reliability across the nation.
TCN’s statement reveals that this latest surge surpasses the previous milestone of 5,543.20MW, achieved on 14 February 2025, by an impressive 170.40MW.
While this new peak is marginally lower than the all-time maximum of 5,801.60MW set on 1 March 2021, the current figure remains a significant testament to the robust improvements and strategic investments in Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
Adding further credence to this trend of progress, TCN also announced that a record maximum daily energy output of 125,542.06MWh was attained on Monday.
This figure eclipses the earlier record of 125,159.48MWh, also recorded on 14 February 2025, by an additional 382.58MWh – a clear indicator of the sector’s accelerating momentum.
