KADUNA, Kaduna – Nigeria celebrates the safe return of 287 pupils who were abducted from Kaduna State, a positive achievement that brings hope and solace to a nation plagued by insecurity. The government, security agencies, and concerned individuals worked together to ensure that the children, who endured unimaginable mental anguish and suffering while in captivity, were returned to their families.

Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the general elections of 2023, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to all those who contributed to the children’s release. Mr. Obi highlighted the importance of giving national security first priority and urged ongoing efforts to remove the pervasive insecurity that has plagued many parts of Nigeria. The candidate’s unwavering support for a safer Nigeria where no one has to worry about kidnapping or being taken captive instilled hope for a brighter future.

In a statement issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, President Bola Tinubu expressed gratitude and relief. The statement further highlighted the cooperative efforts between the federal government and states in guaranteeing the safe return of stolen school children. President Tinubu commended the swift response of security agencies and the Kaduna State Government, emphasizing the need for urgency, attention to detail, and unwavering dedication in handling cases of mass abductions.

Furthermore, President Tinubu underscored the imperative of safeguarding schools as secure havens for learning, vowing to implement comprehensive strategies to prevent future incidents of abduction. The administration’s dedication to guaranteeing the safety and security of educational institutions across the nation is further evidenced by the release of students from a Tsangaya school in Sokoto State.

Nigeria is happy that the school children who were kidnapped have returned safely, but the country is still determined to fight instability and make the country safer for all of its residents. Nigeria is on the verge of a new era marked by stability and prosperity, one that can be achieved with combined efforts and steadfast resolve.
