
Mrs. Salamatu F. Yahaya, President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) and wife of the the country’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen, Faruk Yahaya, has declared that NAOWA has become a leadership hub for its members.
Mrs. Yahaya said this while mobilizing support for wives of the country’s Army officers in the area of leadership training during a courtesy call on the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. O.C. Ajunwa at the Headquarters in Lagos State on Wednesday, 12 October 2022.
While emphasizing the importance of leadership training to NAOWA members the wife of Lt. Gen. Yahaya called on Officers of 81 Division to support and encourage their spouses to partake in the activities of the association.
During her address, the NAOWA President thanked the GOC and entire 81 Division personnel for the warm reception and audience accorded her and members of her entourage and explained that the purpose of her visit to the state was to commission an additional Block of Classrooms, ICT Center and a 500 Seater Multipurpose Hall at the NAOWA Model Nursery and Primary School Ojo.
Mrs. Yahaya revealed that NAOWA’s scope of humanitarian activities have been widened and has drawn more support through entrepreneurial trainings and access to government grants and interventions for the benefit of women and youths in the barracks community due to its current partnership with various States and Non-State Actors.
She further expressed her commitment to initiate more projects in the barracks communities in Lagos State.
In his response, the GOC 81 Division commended her for the huge successes in structural developments and other programmes which has impacted positively on the Barracks communities Nationwide and also applauded her zeal in sustaining and improving the legacies left behind by her predecessors.
