Police Unveils New Talents at the 14th Biennial Police Games in Oluyole 2024

IBADAN, Oyo – In a resounding declaration, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun haw affirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to leverage its sports capabilities for the advancement of peace, unity, stability, and overall development in Nigeria. He made the statement during the opening ceremony of the 14th Biennial Police Games, Oluyole 2024, which held at the Adamasingba Sports Centre, Ibadan, on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Utilizing Sporting Prowess:
IGP Egbetokun, joined by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, emphasized the pivotal role of police sports in nurturing champions who represent the nation nationally and internationally. He emphasised how sports help police personnel and the general public develop discipline, camaraderie, and respect for one another. According to the IGP, sporting events give officers from different Commands and Formations of the Force a forum to encourage healthy competition, physical fitness, and teamwork.
Competing for National Development:
The theme of the event, ‘Competing for Peace, Unity, Stability, and Development of Nigeria,’ was expounded upon by the IGP. He underscored that the 14th Biennial Police Games signifies the collective determination of the Nigeria Police Force to promote national cohesion and solidarity through spirited participation in various sporting events. The games aim to showcase the athletic prowess of officers while reinforcing the values of professionalism, integrity, and service to the nationโcrucial elements for collective safety and national development.
Call for Public Support:
Expressing gratitude to the Governor and residents of Oyo State for their support, IGP Egbetokun extended a warm invitation to the public to join in celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie during the 14th Biennial Police Games. The Force aims to bring policing closer to the people through sports, intending to showcase and discover new talents in the police sports circle for the betterment of national development.
