Dax George-Kelly Plays Host To GDI, NIQS Leaderships

The National Executive Council, and National Working Committee of the Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Rivers State, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, FNIQS at the conference segment of his office on Tuesday, 26 July, 2022.

President-General of GDI, Mr. Bright Amewhule who led the delegation of the political organisation said they came to congratulate Dr. George-Kelly on his appointment as Works Commissioner by His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Governor of Rivers State, and also to appreciate the Kalabari born politician for the support he has been giving to GDI.

“We are here to congratulate you on your appointment as Commissioner for Works, we would have been here earlier but because of the political activities this period, we were unable to come, we are saying you should pardon us. You are a strong member of GDI who has the group’s interest at heart.

“Everyone in this state can attest to what you did as Special Adviser on Special Projects, you have added value to the administration of our Leader, Governor Nyesom Wike.

“We also want to appreciate you for all the support you have been given to us, and we are appealing to you to continue supporting us,” Amewhule said.

Dr. George-Kelly who happens to be the Leader of GDI in Kalabari Kingdom, and the Patron of its Coordinators Forum thanked them for visiting him, and pledged to do more.

“I want to thank the President-General and his team for giving me this honour today, I cannot take that for granted. The season is fast approaching, we all have to work very hard to ensure victory for our party. I always tell my people that it is not tea party, it requires us going to the trenches with the message and come back with result.

“GDI is a big family, my family that I will continue to belong to. By the grace of God, I will give support to GDI at the centre and at the various local government chapters,” the Commissioner said.

Also, Dr. George-Kelly received the leadership of Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS), Rivers State Chapter led by its Deputy Chairman/Chairman Elect, QS J.T Numbere, MNIQS, RQS.

The professional body congratulated the Commissioner for Works on his appointment. They also thank him for being a long time benefactor of the Rivers State chapter of NIQS, which he is also a member.

The Honourable Commissioner assured them of his continuous support. He urged members of NIQS to diversify and aquire skills in fields like Construction Management, Civil Engineering, etc., because the construction industry is evolving.
