Senator Shehu Sani (APC, Kaduna Central) has come down heavily on President Muhammadu Buhari’s approval of $1billion for the Nigerian military.

The vocal senator questioned the strategic security logic of the decision.

The implication of this is that the opposition to President Buhari’s purported unilateral approval of a whooping $1billion military fund has assumed a bi-partisan dimension and it may after all have become unpopular.

In his opinion, the gargantuan sum of $1billion for the military alone would amount to a total waste of taxpayers’ scarce resources if there is no corresponding spending for the Nigerian police and other security agencies in the country.

In his words, “If we use a Billion dollar to upgrade our military arsenals to the 21st century while leaving behind our police in the 20th century and other security agencies in the 19th century,we will be dancing with the Python & sleeping with the Cobra, Viper, Mamba & Anaconda.”

The civil rights activist made his position known via his twitter handle on Friday afternoon.
