JOS. Plateau โ In the last two months, Operation SAFE HAVEN has made significant strides in addressing security challenges and maintaining peace in Plateau State. The joint efforts of security agencies have resulted in the apprehension of suspected criminals, disruption of illegal activities, rescue missions, and the recovery of illegal weapons.

These accomplishments, according to a Nigerian Army statement, underscore the commitment of the security forces to securing the region and protecting its residents.
Boost in Personnel and Resources:
Operation SAFE HAVEN has successfully increased its personnel and critical resources, following commitments made by top military officials during their operational assessment. This deployment of additional personnel, coupled with advanced technology and ongoing operations, aims to eradicate non-state actors operating in the joint operations area.
Key Successes:
Vehicle Snatching Foiled: On January 2, 2024, personnel at Hawan Kibo checkpoint intercepted a black Mercedes Benz C350 that had been snatched at gunpoint in Bauchi State. Two suspects, Samuel Ganya and Mohammed Nuru Shaibu, were apprehended during this operation.
Engagement with Suspected Bandits: Responding to a distress call on January 2, security agencies engaged suspected bandits at Bang, Zamtip, and Gwantim villages in Wase Local Government Area. Four suspects were arrested, and three motorcycles were recovered.
Arrest of Notorious Criminal: On the same day, Mr. Markus Dawa, a notorious criminal, was arrested in Damakasua village, Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State. The suspect confessed to participating in various kidnappings and isolated killings.
Mobile Patrol Success: Security agencies conducted a mobile patrol, leading to the arrest of Daman Isaac, a suspected criminal, in Yemdun Mangun village, Mangu Local Government Area. One pistol, two cartridges, one dagger, one motorcycle, and assorted charms were recovered.
Successful Rescue Operation: In response to a distress call on January 3, personnel rescued Emmanuel Monday Jafrom, who had been kidnapped along Kaskara-Mangu road in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. The kidnapper, Biliyaminu Musa, was captured.
Collaboration with Militias Exposed: On January 4, security agencies at Gashish junction checkpoint arrested Mr. Shamsu Ibrahim Bakoji for collaborating with militias to plan attacks on Barkin Ladi and Bokkos Local Government Areas.
