The Emir of Bama, His Royal Highness (HRH) Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi, Wednesday, 1 February 2023 praised the efforts of the troops from 7 Division deployed under the 21 Special Armoured Brigade (SAB) in Bama for their role in protecting the kingdom against Boko Haram insurgents.
During a visit by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 7 Division, Major General Waidi Shaibu, to the Emir’s palace in Bama, HRH El-Kanemi commended the GOC and his troops for their tremendous efforts in bringing peace and stability to the area, which has allowed for social and commercial activities to thrive. He emphasized that his people will continue to work with the military to end the insurgency in the state.
In turn, the GOC appreciated the support and cooperation from HRH and the people of Bama in their efforts to counter the activities of terrorists in the area. He reassured them that the sector and division will continue to carry out its responsibilities with determination.
Additionally, the GOC paid an operational visit to the headquarters of the 21 SAB in Bama to assess the troops’ readiness. Upon arrival, he was received by the brigade commander, Brigadier General UV Unachukwu, who briefed him on the brigade’s operational posture.
The GOC expressed satisfaction with the troops’ performance in securing their area of operation, praising their efforts in denying the insurgents freedom of action. He urged them to maintain an aggressive and offensive posture in their efforts to defeat the remnants of the terrorists.
The visit was attended by the Commander of the 21 SAB, Brigadier General UV Unachukwu, as well as other key leaders and commanders from various formations and units, including the Comd 37 Arty Bde, Brig Gen NUC Ogili, Comd 57 Sig Bde, Brig Gen AJ Ahmad, Comd 77 ST Bde, Brig Gen JB Adams, and other senior staff members from the headquarters of the 7 Division.
