ABEOKUTA, Ogun โ Cybercriminals operating in Ogun State have suffered a serious blow as a result of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s unwavering pursuit of justice. Thirty-six (36) accused online scammers were taken into custody on Monday, February 26, 2024, after a focused operation in the Abeokuta neighbourhoods of Gbokoniyin and Yetedo.

Actionable Intelligence and Coordinated Raids:
The operation was carried out by the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Command using carefully obtained and examined actionable intelligence. The well-planned raids took place in key areas recognised for providing a haven for cybercrime activity, proving the EFCC’s commitment to combating online fraud.
Taking Control of Cybercrime’s Relics:
Law enforcement officials seized a vast amount of assets accumulated through fraudulent activities as a result of the crackdown, which had noteworthy outcomes. Nine exotic cars, fourteen laptops, and forty-nine (49) cell phones were among the things seized. Further proof for the upcoming court procedures was provided by the recovery of incriminating documents.

The suspects, whose identities are being kept under wraps until investigations are finished, are thought to be a part of a wider network of cybercrime syndicates operating in the area.
