Ehie Ogerenye Edison, leader of the four pro-Fubara members of the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) who declared himself Speaker after he was suspended from office as Majority Leader following his insurrectional enablement of the subversive actions of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his resignation from the House of Assembly.
Although the Atlantic Post have not been able to verify the exact circumstances surrounding his action, the River Assemblyman, who still considered himself speaker despite the peace deal brokered by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, declared in his letter of resignation that it was voluntary.
However, an inside source attributed the sudden resignation of Assmblyman Edison, who was a Deputy Speaker in the 9th Assembly, to his inability to continue to carry the pressure coming as a result of the ignoble role he played in enabling the subversive actions of Gov. Fubara against the legislative authority of the House.
Assemblymen Edison resignation letter titled, Notice of Resignation as Speaker and Member Representing Ahoada-East Constituency II in the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly, reads as follows:
โThis is to formally notify you of my voluntary resignation as Speaker and Member of the 10* Rivers State House of Assembly representing Ahoada – East Constituency Il with effect from the date of this letter.
โI wish to deeply appreciate my colleagues and the people of my Constituency for the rare opportunity to serve and hope to continue to give my utmost best in service to Rivers State subsequently.โ
โKindly accept the assurances of my highest esteem at all times.โ
