The PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has announced the creation of Edo State Ward Caretaker Committees as a calculated measure to maintain the party’s activities and guarantee a smooth transition. In accordance with the party’s constitution, the resolution takes effect today, February 1, 2024, and these committees will be in existence for 30 days.

The imperative for this decision, according to the party’s NWC, arises from the natural conclusion of the tenure of the Edo State Ward Executive Committees today. To avert any potential void in the crucial organizational structure of the party in Edo State, the NWC has greenlit the appointment of the outgoing Edo State Ward Executive Committees to function as Ward Caretaker Committees for the specified period.

This transitional arrangement is geared towards maintaining the party’s robust presence at the grassroots level, ensuring that the PDP machinery in Edo State remains fully operational during this interim period. The Ward Caretaker Committees will play a pivotal role in sustaining the party’s momentum, ensuring continuity in leadership and organizational effectiveness.

The NWC, in its directive, called upon all Party leaders, critical stakeholders, and PDP members in Edo State to align with this strategic move and collaborate in the best interests of the Party within the state. The party’s emphasis on cooperation and togetherness highlights its dedication to cohesiveness and efficient leadership across the board.

The PDP anticipates a smooth transition that demonstrates the party’s commitment to the democratic process and its organisational vibrancy when the Edo State Ward Caretaker Committees start on their duties.

Stay tuned for further updates as the PDP navigates this transitional phase, setting the stage for continued growth and impact in Edo State politics.
