The Managing Director of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, led the presenting ceremony, which emphasised the Commission’s dedication to giving people with disabilities opportunity and support. Dr. Ogbuku stressed the value of empowering people with disabilities and recognising their ability and potential to make significant contributions to society.

During the occasion, a range of mobility devices, such as crutches, wheelchairs, sensor-guided canes, and hearing aids, were distributed with the intention of improving the beneficiaries’ quality of life and mobility. At the occasion, Dr. Ogbuku’s representative, Dr. Asela Agala, Assistant Director of Education, Health, and Social Services at NDDC, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to tackling the difficulties encountered by those with disabilities.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Disability Matters, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, praised the NDDC for its assistance in promoting inclusive policies and fostering an atmosphere that is accommodating to individuals with disabilities. He underlined the necessity of a workable legal framework to protect the rights and dignity of Nigerians who live with impairments.

Hon. Timi Ziriki, the NDDC Consultant on the Niger Delta Disability Praise Festival, emphasised the contributions that people with disabilities have made to society and urged non-governmental organisations and government officials to give people with disabilities top priority when it comes to inclusion in policies and programmes. She stressed how important it is to give people with disabilities equal opportunity, especially when it comes to employment, so they may show off their skills and abilities.

An appeal was issued at the end of the event for government organisations and interested parties to acknowledge and value the priceless contributions that people with disabilities make to society. The Niger Delta Development Commission’s (NDDC) Director of Corporate Affairs, Pius Ughakpoteni, reaffirmed the Commission’s unshakable commitment to the holistic development and empowerment of people with disabilities in the region.

In the continuous endeavour to advance inclusivity and support the welfare of disadvantaged groups in society, the NDDC’s initiative to furnish mobility aids to individuals with disabilities represents a noteworthy turning point. Stakeholders can construct a more inclusive and equitable society where everyone, regardless of ability, can prosper and make a meaningful contribution to the development of the country by working together and taking proactive steps.
