Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, has cautioned opponents against negative political actions that harm the state’s reputation and ultimately devastate its economic fortunes.
During his Tuesday inspection of the progress of the 6.5km Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Link Road project, Sir Fubara issued the warning.
The governor noted that sincere supporters of the state are patriotic and will refrain from detrimental political actions that drive away investors who are anticipated to boost the state’s economy.
“Whatever we are doing or whoever is sponsoring anything negative is not doing it to the person of Gov. Fubara, they are using it to run down the State.
“I feel that it shouldn’t always be bad news from the State. People should see the good part of our State and promote the image of our State.
“Economically, no sound and serious investor will hear all these stories and feel comfortable coming here to invest. So, we will try our best to continue to project the good side of our State.”
Governor Fubara offered his thoughts on the project, stating that Raffoul Nigeria Limited, the contractor, had accelerated their work and reached a noteworthy milestone. They also promised to complete the road within the following three months.
“We decided to come back today to see what the building firm had completed after visiting approximately two months ago to check in on their commitment, and we are incredibly happy with what we saw.
Sir Fubara commended the company for its efforts in securing the connecting bridge, noting that the project will be completed more quickly once it was completed.
“You know, the bridge is the most important component of the project. If you could compare the video we saw previously with the one we currently have on site, it would demonstrate how hard they are working to ensure the project is finished on schedule. It will be delivered within the next three months, as they have stated.
“We shall keep working hard for our beloved State. We were chosen to serve as elected officials. In my opinion, fulfilling our elected positions is not unusual; rather, it is our obligation.”
