ABUJA, FCT – In a dramatic warning to the public, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has issued a stern advisory against unauthorised hiking and camping in Abuja.

Speaking on Tuesday, CP Ajao Adewale, the Commissioner of Police, highlighted the heightened security risks associated with remote excursions, particularly for impassioned youth groups and hiking enthusiasts.

This precautionary alert comes amid growing concerns that unsanctioned outings in secluded areas could inadvertently expose participants to criminal elements lurking in the shadows of the capital.

The FCT Police Command, through spokesperson Josephine Adeh, urged organisers to take every necessary precaution by informing the police before setting off on any hiking or camping ventures.

“Without proper notification and coordination, these excursions may become vulnerable to unpredictable criminal activities,” she warned.

Adewale stressed that a meticulous approach—ensuring safe routes and continuous communication with law enforcement—is essential for mitigating potential dangers.

Residents are also advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.

The Command has provided several emergency contact numbers—08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883—for those seeking security support.

With public safety at stake, this critical directive calls for an organised, responsible approach to outdoor adventures in Abuja, ensuring that excitement does not come at the cost of safety.
