A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) in Ebonyi, Mr. Nwachukwu Nwabueze, has revealed how the presidency of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Yusufu Datti Baba-Ahmed, will be a pivotal moment for the country’s rebirth if they are elected.

Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed (L) and Peter Obi, running mate and presidential candidate, respectively of the the Labour Party, on the 2023 campaign trail.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nwabueze, who is also the National Chairman of the Good Governance Initiative (GGI), a group that aims to promote credible and transparent governance in Nigeria, emphasized that the Obi-Datti presidency will lead the nation towards economic, social and political prosperity.

Nwabueze stated that Obi, who he described as a “detribalized Nigerian with a strong commitment to the country’s unity,” will bring a new era of good governance and alleviate the suffering of the people.

The chieftain emphasized the need for citizens to vote for Obi, an accomplished entrepreneur with the knowledge and experience to drive the country towards prosperity.

Elimination of corruption, according to Nwabueze, will be the first priority for Obi if elected, as corruption is the biggest barrier to transforming the country’s economy from a consumption-based to a production-based economy.

The chieftain stressed that a man who knows how to invest and block the leakages in the national treasury is what the country needs to move towards a sustainable business environment.

In regards to the LP’s presidential rally slated for Feb. 3 in Ebonyi, Nwabueze confirmed that the party’s leadership had made adequate arrangements to ensure its success.

He called on eligible voters in Ebonyi to obtain their permanent voter cards (PVCs) so that they can exercise their franchise on election day.

He reassured voters that their votes would count, as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had assured them of this.
