2023 Labour Party Presidential Candidate Peter Gregory Obi has described former Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as a patriotic leader who gave up his personal ambition for the peace and progress of the country.
Gov. Obi stated this in a moving tribute widely circulated online to celebrate the 65th birthday of the iconic African statesman and former Nigeria president, who is fondly remembered for his famous quote, “my ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.”
The former Anambra governor wrote the following:
“On behalf of my family and the whole OBIdient movement, I celebrate my very dear elder brother, His Excellency Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as he marks his 65th birthday today. A man of peace, nobility and honour; GEJonathan remains a great blessing to our nation.
“A true leader, GEJ gave up his personal political ambition for the sake of national peace and progress. As a patriot, he remains committed to the unity and development of Nigeria. As a lover of mankind, his positive impacts on people, institutions and organisations are continually felt, not just in Nigeria, but on the global stage. I join his family, friends, well-wishers and millions of admirers around the world to celebrate him today.
“I pray God to continually bless him with abundant health of mind and body, protect him always and give him the grace to continue to make great positive impacts in society. Many happy returns to this day, Sir.”
