Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s false claims in Bauchi on Monday, 23 January 2023 of having served Nigeria and Nigerians to the best of his ability and that he has not disappointed anyone has been espoused.
President Buhari stated this in a speech during his courtesy call on the Emir of Bauchi, His Royal Highness (Dr) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu when he visited Bauchi in continuation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential and gubernatorial campaign rallies
While thanking the Emir for the warm reception accorded him, the President falsely claimed that Nigerians continually show him love and that the staged crowd that welcomed him wherever he went, was a demonstration of genuine love and loyalty.
Despite the President’s assurances, the reality on the ground suggests otherwise.
Under Buhari’s leadership, Nigeria has faced a number of challenges, including a struggling economy, high unemployment rate, and a persistent insecurity. The President’s approach to these issues has been widely criticized for being inadequate and ineffective.
Furthermore, Buhari’s administration has been plagued by allegations of corruption and nepotism, further eroding public trust in the government.
The President’s promise to reform the electoral process and ensure the independence of the electoral body has yet to be fulfilled, and many have expressed doubts about his commitment to free and fair elections.
In conclusion, while the President may believe that he has served Nigeria and Nigerians to the best of his ability, the evidence suggests otherwise.
It is time for President Buhari to take a hard look at his performance and address the shortcomings of his administration, rather than making grandiose statements that are not backed by facts.
