The Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps (NAIC) has honored the memory of the late Chief of Military Intelligence (CMI), Brigadier General Abdulrahman Kuliya, by naming a 350-seat capacity training facility after him at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps WU Bassey Barracks in Asokoro, Abuja.

The project, which was commissioned on Friday, January 13, 2023, is a tribute to General Kuliya, who passed away in a tragic military plane crash in Kaduna State on May 21, 2021, alongside the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru.

During the commissioning ceremony, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the COAS, said it was fitting to name the project after General Kuliya in recognition of his contributions to the Intelligence Corps and the Nigerian Army as a whole.

Representing the COAS, the Chief of Special Service and Programmes, Major General EV Onumajuru, described the late Intelligence Chief as a dedicated and loyal senior officer who made significant contributions to the growth of the Intelligence Corps during his service years and in his short tenure as the CMI, particularly in the area of training.

The COAS added that the facility will provide a conducive environment for the training of Nigerian Army personnel and aligns with the vision of having a professionally trained Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned missions within a joint environment in the defense of Nigeria.

The event was attended by Mrs. Maryam Kuliya, the wife of the late Brigadier General Kuliya, senior officers from the defense and Nigerian Army headquarters, as well as personnel of the NAIC.
