Bayelsa: How Nursing School Was Upgraded To College Of Nursing, Midwifery and Science

The accreditation team for the school of Nursing and Midwifery, Tombia headed by the Secretary General/Registrar of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, Dr. Farouk Umar Abubakar, today paid the governor of Bayelsa State, Sen. Douye Diri, a visit in his office to inform him of the successful accreditation of the School of Nursing and Midwifery.

The leader of the team hinted that after meeting all the requirements, the council has now graciously given accreditation to the School of Nursing and School of Midwifery to be upgraded to the status of a College of Nursing, Midwifery and Science, Bayelsa State.

With this feat, the school now has the capacity to create campuses anywhere in the state; it also has the opportunity to affiliate with the Faculty of Nursing, Niger Delta University, for the purpose of creating opportunities for Bayelsans to be Graduate-Nurses easily.

Gov. Douye Diri, said he was excited with the news of the accreditation after the investments in the school.

“Let me thank both Commissioners for Health and Education for this feat. For us in Bayelsa, health and education are two sectors we don’t joke with. Thank you for your work for this accreditation”, Gov. Diri stated.
