BAMA, Borno – The Shehu of Bama, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi has extolled the professionalism and resilience of troops of 7 Division Nigerian Army deployed under 21 Special Armoured Brigade (SAB) Bama, in restoration of peace in his Emirate.

Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna paid the Shehu of Bama, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Umar Kyari Umar El-Kanemi a courtesy visit at his palace in Bama. February 11, 2024.

The Shehu gave the commendation on Sunday, 11 February 2024 when the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Bama.

The Shehu congratulated the General Haruna on his well deserved appointment as the Acting GOC 7 Division and assured him of his full support. He lauded the efforts of the GOC and his troops for their sacrifices and commitment which he says has brought relative peace in the Emirate.

He affirmed that the efforts put in place by the Nigerian Army has paved ways for socio-economic activities to thrive. Stressing that the Emirate would continue to collaborate with the military towards restoration of total peace in his Emirate and the state at large.

In a similar vein, the GOC appreciated the warm reception accorded to his team by the His Royal Highness despite the short notice. He assured the monarch of the Division’s continuous cooperation and synergy with the good people of Bama. He further assured the monarch that the Sector, and indeed the Division, under his watch, would continue to carryout its assigned responsibilities with determination and fervor.

In a related development, the GOC equally paid an operational and familiarization visit to Headquarters 21 SAB, Bama, to assess the operational posture of troops in the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR). On arrival, the GOC was received by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General SS Diwa who briefed him on the Brigade’s operational activities.

In his speech, the GOC praised the troops for their dominance and depriving the rebels of any freedom of movement and expressed satisfaction with their performance in successfully securing their AOR. He then tasked them with keeping up the momentum in order to ensure the Terrorists’ overall defeat, all the while maintaining an aggressive and attacking stance.

At the end of the brief, the GOC proceeded to 151 Task Force Battalion deployed at Banki Junction. He was received and briefed on arrival by the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel NP Ochasi. The GOC thereafter addressed the troops and thanked them for the feat achieved. He urged the troops to sustain the momentum.

Present during the visit were the Commander, 21 SAB, Brigadier General SS Diwa, Commander 47 Engineer Brigade, Brigadier General AO Kazeem, Commander 57 Signal Brigade, Brigadier General EN Akpan, amongst other formations and Unit Commanders as well as Principal Staff Officers of headquarters 7 Division.
