PORT HARCOURT, Rivers — Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State celebrated the accomplishments of the Rivers Hoopers basketball team and Super Eagles custodian Stanley Nwabali with great pleasure and appreciation. The occasion, which took place at Port Harcourt’s Government House, demonstrated the governor’s dedication to creating an atmosphere that is conducive to the growth of sports in the region.

In order to promote good transformation, Governor Fubara underlined the significance of effective administrative practices and purposeful governance. He praised Stanley Nwabali for representing Nigeria honourably and made Rivers State proud at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
You wouldn’t be where you are now if we hadn’t given you motivational encouragement. So, it is part of purposeful governance, administrative efficiency. So, I want to thank you and assure you that we will continue to do our best,” Governor Fubara declared.
He extended his appreciation to Rivers Hoopers for emerging as champions in the Louis Edem National league competition. To recognize and reward their outstanding achievement, Governor Fubara gifted N50 million to the basketball team, emphasizing the state’s commitment to supporting sports at all levels.
The governor also announced a N20 million reward for Stanley Nwabali, accompanied by the prestigious honor of Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS). The Super Eagles’ crew present at the event received a generous gift of N30 million.
Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Christopher Green, applauded Governor Fubara for his unwavering support, acknowledging its role in motivating the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Team to secure the national league trophy.
Former Commissioner for Justice and ex-Super Eagles player, Chief Adokiye Amiesimaka, praised Governor Fubara’s purposeful leadership, recognizing the significant impact on sports development in the state.
The celebration not only highlighted the sporting achievements but underscored the governor’s commitment to creating an environment where Rivers people are inspired to excel and bring honor to the state.
