Mediterranean Sea: 1087 Migrants Die As 87,315 Others Enter Europe

A 16-year-old Afghan teenager lost his live during the crossing from Küçükkuyu, Turkey to the Greek island of Lesvos on October 28. His remains were recovered by the Turkish Coast Guard, which also rescued 40 survivors and returned them to Turkish shores.

UN Agency Airlifts 64 Migrant Children, 62 Others Home

Fifty-three migrant family groups comprising 64 children, 29 women and 33 men were last week air-lifted from the city of Matamoros (Tamaulipas, Mexico) to San Pedro Sula (Honduras). The International Organisation for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, organised a charter flight for the 126 migrants who expressed their decision to return voluntarily to their country of origin.

Africa: Migrants Still Detained In A Bombed Facility, As Economic Condition Displaces 8 Million Others

Vulnerable migrants who returned from sea are still being taken to the Tajoura detention centre, three months after an airstrike on the facility tragically killed 53 migrants and left over 130 injured. The bombed detention centre remains operational to this day, despite urgent and persistent calls to close Tajoura, especially due to its proximity to a military location.

59 Shipwreck Migrant Survivors Return Home

Fifty-nine Burkinabe migrants who survived a shipwreck off Kribi, Cameroon late July, have finally returned home. The migrants who flew out of Douala, Cameroon, were welcomed at the international airport in Ouagadougou by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the government of Burkina Faso with support from the European Union.
