The Rivers State Government at the beginning of the week hosted a 3 days virtual tour for participants of the Syndicate 11 of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 13 of the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Abuja, from Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 July, 2020.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo while presenting a keynote paper on the theme of the tour- “Piracy in the Gulf of Guinea: Issues and Challenges for Internal Trade, National Security and Sustainable Development in Member States”, emphasized that, His Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike has remained steadfast to ensure a safe State despite the States’ exposure to diverse security challenges by virtue of her strategic location at the Gulf of Guinea and the politics of oil wealth control.
The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, while taking participants on a tour of the various achievements of the NEW Administration, showcased the government’s strides in ensuring greater inflow of Investment to make the State an investors haven and create wealth for her people.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Ify Nwankpa elucidated on the economic diversification projects by the State Government in that sector.
The three days intellectually packed tour also had the Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, Dr Peter Medee and representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture and Environment elaborating on the theme.
Other speakers on the theme were culled from the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCD) as well as the Directorate of State Security (DSS) and the Permanent Secretary , Special Service Bureau, Office of the SSG, Dr. George Nweke.
