Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has congratulated Governor Nyesom Wike on the Presidential Honour accorded him for his infrastructural revolution in Rivers State.
Governor Wike got the warm felicitations when the Rivers State Chapter of NMA, led by its Chairman, Dr. Robinson Ebbi, paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Rivers State, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, FNIQS in his office in Port Harcourt on Friday, 14 October, 2022.
Speaking on behalf of the apex medical professional body, Dr. Robinson described Wike’s achievements in infrastructure as exemplary and unprecedented in the history of Rivers State.
“We want to appreciate His Excellency Governor Nyesom Wike for the massive investment in the health sector of the state. We have not been given this kind of attention and support before.
“We also want to congratulate the Governor on his National Award for Infrastructure Delivery by President Buhari. Nigerian Medical Association as a noble professional body is really happy with the governor’s performance, especially in the health sector,” he stated.
The Rivers branch of NMA also commended Dr. George-Kelly’s commitment and the pivotal role he is playing in this administration’s infrastructural revolution.
“Honourable Commissioner, we also want to commend your significant contribution to the infrastructural milestones the entire nation is celebrating about Rivers State under the leadership of Governor Wike. You have shown so much professional efficiency in discharging your duties; you are indeed an asset to Rivers State and we are proud of you,” the Chairman said.
Dr. George-Kelly thanked the Rivers State Executive Committee of Nigerian Medical Association for the kind words for his boss, the Governor. He pledged to convey their good will message to him.
“I sincerely thank you for this visit and kind words for my boss the best performing Governor of the modern day Nigeria. I will ensure that I deliver your message to him.
“Governor Nyesom Wike deserves the commendations and honours he is receiving from far and near because he is unarguably the best amongst the current crops of governors in Nigeria.
“He has done tremendously well in the health sector like you rightly mentioned earlier. He established College of Medical Sciences in Rivers State University. He upgraded Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital to RSU Teaching Hospital. We are about to complete Dr Peter Odili Cancer and Cardiovascular Disease Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in Port Harcourt. Rivers State Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital is currently undergoing total upgrade and turnaround rehabilitation. Should I talk about the Mother and Child Hospital or the world class Government House Clinic? What about the Zonal Referral Hospitals built in Bori, Degema and some other LGAs? The list in the health sector is endless.
“I hope that the next administration will build on the enviable legacies of Governor Wike in not just the health sector but in all facets of our dear state,” the Commissioner added.
